Our Story

Our story begins with a humble apprenticeship at Durham Cathedral, where the traditional art of stonemasonry and construction was learned and refined through years of hands-on experience. This foundation instilled in us a deep respect for heritage craftsmanship and the precision required to create work that stands the test of time.

Our journey took an exciting turn after cladding a media wall with quartz — a project that sparked a curiosity about alternative finishes. This led to the discovery of Venetian plaster, a material that combined the elegance of natural stone with the versatility of modern design. Captivated by its beauty and potential, I made the bold decision to leave my full-time job and dedicate myself entirely to mastering this craft.

Now, several years later, Venetian plastering has become a defining part of what we do. At Statement Stone, we bring together the timeless skill of stonemasonry with the contemporary artistry of Venetian plaster to create bespoke interiors and exteriors that are both durable and visually striking.
